We are enormously proud of our very own Mya Kandola who is making her acting debut in Sainsbury’s much-anticipated new Christmas campaign with the BFG!
The magic of Christmas has begun for Mya! Launching today, Mya stars as Sophie alongside lovable character the Big Friendly Giant (the BFG) in this year’s ‘phizz-whizzing’ festive ad for the major retailer.
Mya, studying Drama & Theatre, Film and Applied Psychology at Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form, appears in the heartwarming TV advert as one of two old friends embarking on a journey, showcasing the flavours of the supermarket’s food ranges.
The 60 second ad starring Mya – a real-life Sainsbury’s food services assistant when she is not studying – is set to premier on TV at 20.15, during Coronation Street, on Friday 1st November.
The full advert can be viewed here and is live from 8am on Sainsbury’s social channels and website.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s timeless and cherished story, the new Christmas advert features the beloved 24-foot-tall BFG alongside Sainsbury’s colleagues as they take viewers on a culinary adventure from the trolley park to the BFG’s dream cave overflowing with dishes and desserts.
To ensure a magical Christmas is had by all, Sainsbury’s is working with its longtime charity partner, Comic Relief, to distribute over five million meals to families experiencing food poverty this Christmas. This forms part of Sainsbury’s and Comic Relief’s ongoing Nourish the Nation programme, and there will be a special version of this year’s advert highlighting this all-important work.
