Guinness World Records Success Leads To Behind-The-Scenes BBC Experience

Business students from Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form are celebrating after helping to achieve a Guinness World Records title by taking part in BBC Asian Network’s Pass the Pakora challenge.
The record-breaking event, attended by West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker, took place at The Old Library in Digbeth, where students not only contributed to the successful attempt but also enjoyed a unique behind-the-scenes experience.
They met BBC producers and presenters, took part in a live radio interview, and posed for photographs with radio host Nakita Kanda, the Guinness World Records adjudicator, and a host of special guests.
To mark the occasion, the students designed and printed their own commemorative T-shirts with support from the Art team, showcasing both their creativity and team spirit.

Reflecting on the achievement, Business Lecturer Suki Sidhu said: “It has been an incredible achievement and a fantastic opportunity for Central Saint Michael’s. It has been a very hard one-and-a-half days to get this all done, but it was absolutely worth it. Most importantly, we can now proudly say that we hold the Guinness World Records title for the Longest Pakora Dunking Relay!”

The challenge required participants to stand in a single-file line, each holding a pakora and chutney. Following the official start signal, they completed a relay-style sequence of dunking and eating their pakora, with every participant playing their part to ensure the record attempt met the strict Guinness World Records guidelines.

This unforgettable achievement highlights the enthusiasm, teamwork and determination of our students, who embraced the challenge with energy and pride.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
