A highly successful work experience conference in collaboration with our Fab Lab, saw students from Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form working with leading organisations.
Learners accessed high-quality virtual placements with Amazon Future Engineer, NHS Healthcare and Mental Health Services, and Journey to Healthcare, engaging with innovative learning tools like the augmented reality cube for immersive, career-focused scenarios.
Science students completed specialist programmes in Clinical Psychology, Dentistry and Asthma Care, while BTEC Triple Applied Science learners participated in a session with Medical Mavericks, aligned with their subject pathways and future career aspirations.
Throughout the conference, students actively participated in virtual tasks designed to develop transferable skills, including problem-solving, digital literacy, communication, teamwork, and professional reflection.
Work Experience Officer for Central Saint Michael’s, Rajinder Bharaj, coordinated the conference. She said: “Learners developed a stronger understanding of healthcare and engineering career pathways, workplace expectations, and the application of scientific knowledge in real-world contexts. The conference was a clear success, strengthening employability skills, increasing career awareness, and providing meaningful, curriculum-linked work experience that supports progression into further study, apprenticeships, or employment.”
