Are you interested in the psychology of communication, and do you enjoy writing, debating, and analysing real-life communication? The A Level English Language course at Central Saint Michael’s offers a deep dive into the ways language shapes our everyday lives. You’ll explore how language is used in different contexts, investigate the impact of gender on communication, and study how children acquire language. You’ll develop a more in depth understanding of how language influences society, politics, identity and cultures, and you’ll also explore how language intersects with emerging technologies like AI, voice assistants, and natural language processing—equipping you with skills for the future of communication and linguistics.

This course is ideal if you are considering a career in journalism, publishing, teaching, law, marketing, communications, linguistics, or speech and language therapy, and you want to enhance your ability to communicate effectively and think critically, research independently and create original writing.
